River Oaks Show House

An inspired curation of traditional and modern furnishings, French contemporary patterns and textiles, with a collection of accessories and art. A blend of custom, vintage, and reclaimed furniture pieces offers up a Southern personality in this guest retreat. A draped canopy bed, thoughtful vanity, and custom upholstered folding screen make this space perfect for any guest. The stairway landing introduces a refreshed vintage settee that creates an intimate resting place wrapped in natural light and original art.

What was the overall inspiration for this project?

A bed and breakfast located in the American South with all the comforts of home nestled in the renowned River Oaks district.

Were there any specific requests or priorities for this project?

Install our spaces to completion in 6 weeks.

What is a specific challenge you solved for your client?

To work within the given footprint of the spaces, and the bathroom color scheme. Luckily that didn't pose much of a challenge, the builder selected timeless and neutral options for the secondary areas of the home.

Anything additional to better tell the story of this project?

I specifically chose the three areas--back stair, landing and guest room to lead a cohesive story throughout each space. The bed was a consignment find, then refinished in a fresh coat of paint and draped in custom bed panels. The walls are hand stenciled overtop the existing wall color selection using a contrasting paint color. Like the bed, the settee was updated with a gesso paint finish and custom bench cushion.
